SUMMARY:From Policy to Payment: Lessons from New Mexico on Medicaid Reimbursement for Community-Based Workers
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a webinar exploring a New Mexico initiative that helps community health workers and doulas navigate Medicaid enrollment\, billing\, and reimbursement. In Texas\, House Bill 1575 (88th Legislature) expanded the Case Management for Children and Pregnant Women program to include community health workers (CHWs) and doulas as eligible Medicaid providers. Since its passage\, Texas has been working to translate this policy into practice for supporting pregnant and postpartum Medicaid beneficiaries. \n\n\n\nThis webinar will examine a practical example from New Mexico of how Medicaid implementation can be supported in practice. The initiative provides tools and processes to support provider enrollment\, billing\, claims submission\, documentation\, and different organizational pathways for delivering reimbursable services. \n\n\n\nWhat You Will Learn:Moving from Policy to Practice: Steps required to bridge the gap between legislative authority and operational program participation.Onboarding the Workforce: Lessons on streamlining enrollment\, training\, and administrative requirements for CHWs and doulas.Creating a Path to Payment: Practical approaches for navigating billing\, claim submissions\, documentation\, and organizational pathways to support reimbursement. Our speakers from Luminar Health NM bring complementary perspectives on translating Medicaid policy into practice\, including extensive experience supporting community-based providers in navigating enrollment\, credentialing\, and reimbursement. A practicing doula will add a frontline perspective on the challenges and opportunities doulas are encountering as they begin working within the Medicaid benefit. \n\n\n\nDate: Tuesday\, October 20\, 2026Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM CTLocation: Virtual Webinar on Zoom \n\n\n\nRegister today to reserve your spot. \n\n\n\n\nRegistration
