This brief explores six bills filed in the Texas Legislature’s 89th regular session (2025) that propose using a Medicaid payment option known as “in lieu of services” to address non-medical factors like diet-related needs. Together, these bills offer a promising opportunity for Texas to make health care spending more efficient and effective.
